Q: WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO BE INVOLVED WITH US HERE AT THE MIX AT ARBOR PLACE? WHY?

A: I was drawn to the Mix when I realized through prayer that I had a passion for underserved youth in my “backyard”. I don’t have children of my own and these kids are incredible and have opened up my world in ways I couldn’t have imagined. They’re resilient, genuine and excitable; the friendships I am building with them are so rewarding!

Q: IF YOU WERE TO BE A SUPER HERO, WHO WOULD IT BE? WHY?

A:  The Hulk! …just kidding, actually, I would choose to be a Super-super-hero, and have ALL the powers!

Q: WHAT VALUES AND/OR LESSONS WOULD YOU PASS ALONG TO OUR COMMUNITY?

A: That everyone, always, is deserving of kindness. That the world doesn’t revolve around us even though we may feel that way at times. And that doing good works, being kind and helping others is also a gift unto ourselves.

Q: WHEN YOU ARE NOT VOLUNTEERING, WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR HOBBIES OR COMMITMENTS?

A: My husband, Danyon, and I live in Lancaster City and love it! We have two little old doggies who are basically our “children”, named Willie and Shorty Mack. We love to boat on the Chesapeake Bay and to travel when we can. I also love Zumba, action movies, comedians, Summertime and ice cream!

Q: WHAT DO YOU DO TO AVOID BURNOUT?

A: I try to redirect my energy into something else and remember to draw the line between what is causing the burnout and the rest of life. Working out or doing Zumba, praying + singing worship songs, or just going out with friends usually does the trick!
